I read "the Film director's intuition" past two months. This book had really helped me. Because in my research, I need to study more film directing skills. Judith Weston, the author of the book, told me "intuition" is an essential skill(ability) for directors.
According to read the book, I have learned 5 main points of director's intuition:
1.Intuition is when you see or feel something that is not apparent to others. That may even be contradicted by ordinary reason and evidence.
2.Imagining with director's intuition, make it personal.
3.Use intuition to analyze scripts. A story should be about people, so connect the story and characters and find the inner nature of character.
4.An event is an emotional transaction. Directors need to create different events(central event; individual event; each personal event) in order to perfect story and character's emotion.
5.Rehearsal is necessary and the director need to shape the scene, decides which scene is an important detail of characters.
